Università degli Studi di Macerata

The University of Macerata is based in the centre of Italy, in Marche Region, in the city of Macerata. It was founded by Pope Nicholas IV in 1290 and for years it was a law school run by a private master. Under the protection of the Commune it achieved the features of a public institution. On 1541 the first degree wasconferred, so from that day until the present, the University has continued to operate without interruption. After various requests to the Government the University was granted first class status in a law of 1901.
At the present time, the University of Macerata, with its long history, plays a very remarkable role. Its Faculties, Departments, Institutes and Schools (mainly in the humanities), make up a homogeneous whole in which academic staff and students can find common cultural interests and points for discussion in the spirit of a real universitas studiorum.
With its 21 three-year degree courses, 21 graduate studies courses, 1 four-year course in Education Science and 1 four-year course in Law, 3 postgraduate schools, 31 PhD courses, 21 first level masters, 5 second level masters, the training, improvement and excellence courses, our Athenaeum presents an high profile training offer for the academic year 2007/2008, which attests the purpose to give convincing answers to the changing needs of the intellectual market, to the different cultural and scientific requests of young people and to the needs of new expertises, able to enhance the social and economic raise and the development of the economic system of our Territory.
After a continuum work carried out during the years 2006 and 2007, with the help of an external society of consultancy, our University in October 2007 achieved a very important result, the Certification attesting the respect of Quality Standards ISO 9001:2000.

Università degli Studi di Torino

The department of Education of the University of Turin is composed by 38 persons (professors, researchers, technical and administrative staff).His teachers work in many Faculties, specially in Training and Education, Medicine and Psychology. The main domains of research are history of school and pedagogy, special education, didactics, sociology and philosophy of education.
The department is responsible of the University of Turin e-learning. Since 1997, the historians of the department lead a group of Italian (Macerata, Udine, Bologna, Firenze, Genova, Padova) and foreigner Universities (INRP Paris, Unied Madrid, Georg Eckert Institut Braunsweig) in researches upon the sources for the history of the school, specially the history of textbooks, of their content, utilisation and publishers). By the department depends the data bank of Italian textbooks, Edisco.

Carl von Ossietzky Universität

The Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg is over 200 years old and the main focus of the University is teacher training. Approximately one quarter of all students are trained to become teachers of all different school levels. The University holds formal academic partnerships with over 30 universities in The United States of America, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, France, The Netherlands, Poland, Bulgaria and Russia.
The chair of Didactics of Citizenship Education has three research divisions. First of all the division of historical-political learning, secondly the division of political teaching and learning, both managed by Prof. Dr. Dirk Lange and thirdly the division of European integration and civic education. The topic of migration is one of the main research focuses of the two first divisions. These two research divisions are playing a crucial role in initiating transnational projects.
One recent research project is about analysing pupils ideas about migration combined with the analysis of migration in political and historical text books. The research project is embedded in a PHD-programm of the C-v-O University Oldenburg called “didactical reconstruction” financed by the “Land” Lower Saxony

Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research

The Georg Eckert Institute conducts comparative international textbook research in the fields of history, geography and civics with the aim to improve the representation of (contested) international and intercultural issues in the above mentioned disciplines. It conducts currently projects on textbook revision with partners in Europe, East Asia, and the Middle East. It develops recommendations for educational publishing houses, curriculum experts, ministries of education and teacher training institutions. The Institute’s library holds a unique stock of school textbooks. Researchers from all over the world visit the library for research stays.

Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED)

The Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) is similar to other Spanish public Universities.
It awards the same qualifications, which are equally valid, and it operates under the same general legislation. However, certain features of Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) make it different from other Spanish Universities: it is nationwide in scope, it uses different methodology (distance education), and it has a wide social influence. The Spanish University Law guarantees Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) the same degree of autonomy as other Spanish Universities, stating that the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) is to provide distance education throughout the country.
The keystones of its methodology are printed and audiovisual teaching material, tutorial teaching, and an ever-increasing use of new information and communications technologies. The University is fully consolidated by both Spanish and international educational fields. Under its goals are: to provide access to University and further education for all those who, while capable of pursuing higher studies, are unable to attend on-campus classes for working, financial, residential or other similar reasons; to set up and develop programmes for futher education and for cultural and professional improvement; to promote continuing education and to update and promote university teaching and research. At present, Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) has the largest number of students among all Spanish Universities; each year aproximately 180.000 studentes enrole in their different Faculties, Technical Schools and other courses.

TEI of MESSOLONGI, Department of Applied Informatics in Management and Economy, eBusiness Lab

The department aims to provide to students extended knowledge and skills necessary to develop and apply Information and Communication Technology in the fields of Management and Finance. Its curricula provides to students with the practical experience of available technologies and knowledge of future developments in this rapidly changing area.
The thematic areas of e-Business Lab at Technological Educational Institute of Messolongi include, but not limited to:
-Internet Technologies: research on new technological aspects, filtering techniques and search algorithms.
-Multimedia Technologies: research and development of storage and information manipulation methods in secondary memory. Emphasis is given in new algorithms and techniques to anticipate the specific requirements of storing multimedia objects.
-?business. theoretical models of e-commerce systems, efficiency, data security and transactions, business models.
-Web Mining. Information and knowledge mining on the web, automatic categorization of documents, web usage modeling.
-Adaptive Systems. Research and development in personalization and customization techniques.
-Edutainment. design of educational scenarios, design and implementation of educational games, customization of commercial videogames for educational purposes.
-Data Structures. Research on advanced data structures, algorithmic complexity.
-Modeling and Analysis of Computer Systems Efficiency.

In the mean while, eBusiness Lab is also active in conducting basic research in the thematic areas of data and advance data structures, distributed systems, modelling and analysis of computer systems, artificial Intelligence and expert Systems and geographical information systems.
The scientific work of the lab is constantly presented internationally via its publications in scientific journals and international and national conferences in its research areas.

Pixel has a permanent staff of 15 people and a network of about 100 external professionals and trainers that cooperate with them on specific activities.

Pixel has significant experience in the field of European cooperation and transnational collaboration. National School of Political Studies and Public Administration

Founded in 1990, the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration is a public institution of higher education located in Bucharest. The university is a dynamic institution that generates creative energy, seeking to break down the traditional divide between academia and practical issues. It offers degrees in five major fields of study: communication and public relations, Political science, public administration, management, and international relations. The educational offer encompasses undergraduate, MA, PhD and professional programs.
Although a young school, the NSPSPA has already defined itself as a trademark on the Romanian higher education market. On such a market, which diversifies and increases its academic offer every year, the academic programs offered by NSPSPA are accredited by the National Centre for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation, which is the certification body for higher education in Romania.

Fatih University

Established in 1996, Fatih University (FU) is one of the earliest and well-established private universities of Turkey. It has 3 faculties, 2 institutes, 3 vocational schools, 1 continues education centre, 1 language preparation school, and 1 medicine school in its two campuses. By approximately 600 faculty members, FU offers higher educational studies in more than 40 different areas to its approximately 7400 registered students.
FU is seeking scholarly and scientific solutions to social problems through producing sensitive and useful knowledge to not only humanity but also the environment, while combining local codes of ethics with those of international.
Even though, FU has been focusing research activities to reach equilibrium between pure teaching activities and research & development activities for 2 years, its social departments such as history, philosophy and international relations are very much ahead of its science departments. In addition, FU has opened its doors to students from world universities for study abroad programs. In order to creat an international atmosphere in its campus, FU is offering a %50 discount for foreign students. In this context, the number of foreign students has recently increased consireably.
